R.I.P. PEARL

So, yesterday was a tough one. After more than 17 years of faithful companionship, we said goodbye to our dog, Pearl. To be honest, she had really declined in the health department with symptoms ranging from blindness & deafness to occasional fits of insanity and loss of, well, control. She was a great dog and it was an honor to be with her when she breathed her last. Granted, that cessation of breathing was brought on by a big injection of barbiturates that we authorized, but it was the right thing to do. She was a shadow of her former self, riddled with tumors and mostly lethargic. We wonder even if we kept her around too long. Who knows. Anyhow, we'll miss her and are in the midst of our healing process. Having two other dogs in the house probably helps a little.
